AI Credits

Every time your AI agents interact with a visitor — whether through chat or voice calls — it consumes AI credits. Credits are the currency that powers your AI features, and understanding how they work helps you manage your usage effectively.

What AI Credits Are

AI credits are units that measure your AI usage. Each AI interaction costs a certain number of credits. Your subscription plan includes a set number of credits each billing cycle, and you can purchase additional credits if you need more.

Think of credits like minutes on a phone plan — you have a monthly allowance, and each conversation uses some of that allowance.

How Credits Are Consumed

All AI activity in Knock Knock App draws from a single unified credit pool. Different types of interactions consume credits at different rates, but the unit — and your monthly allowance — is the same across all of them.

ActivityWhat it covers
ChatMessages sent by your AI Chat Agent in a visitor conversation.
Voice InboundIncoming phone calls answered by the AI voice agent.
Voice OutboundOutgoing calls the voice agent placed (proactive callbacks, follow-ups).
Voice WebBrowser-based voice calls — when a visitor uses the AI Voice widget on your site, not a phone number.
Auto TriggerConversations initiated by the Auto-Connect Agent.
NoxConversations with the Nox in-app assistant.

Voice usage is tracked by where the call happened so you can see, for example, whether browser-based voice on your website is consuming more credits than phone calls. Chat conversations bill per AI reply; voice modalities bill per call event with a credit cost that reflects the call's length and complexity.

note

Credits are only consumed when AI activity actually happens. If a visitor sends a message but the AI does not reply — for example, because the conversation was immediately handed off to a human — no AI credits are used for that interaction.

Viewing Credit Usage

To see how your credits are being used, go to Packages > AI Credits. This page gives you a complete picture of your AI consumption.

Donut Gauge

At the top of the page, a donut gauge shows your usage at a glance. The gauge visually represents what percentage of your credits you have used so far in the current billing cycle. This makes it easy to see whether you are on track or running low.

Credit Stats

Below the gauge, you will find key stats:

StatWhat It Shows
Package CreditsThe total number of credits included in your current plan
ConsumedHow many credits you have used so far this cycle
RemainingHow many credits you have left
PurchasedAny additional credits you have bought on top of your plan

These numbers update in real time as your AI agents handle conversations.

tip

Check your credit stats regularly, especially if you are running the Auto-Connect Agent, which proactively starts conversations and can increase your credit consumption.

Per-Agent Breakdown

The AI Credits page shows a breakdown of credit usage by agent type, with a card for each of: Chat, Voice Inbound, Voice Outbound, Voice Web, Auto Trigger, and Nox. Each card shows how many credits that agent has consumed in the selected period, so you can quickly see which surface is driving the most usage.

This is especially useful for diagnosing unexpected spend — for example, a sudden spike in Voice Outbound when an Auto-Connect rule starts placing more callbacks than expected, or a jump in Nox when the team starts asking it more questions during a busy week.

Activity Log

The activity log provides a detailed record of every AI interaction that consumed credits. Each entry includes:

  • Timestamp — When the interaction happened
  • Type — Whether it was a chat message or a voice call
  • Credits used — How many credits that specific interaction consumed
  • Details — Additional context about the interaction

Date Filters

You can filter the activity log by time period to focus on the data that matters most:

  • 7 days — See usage from the past week
  • 30 days — See usage from the past month
  • 90 days — See usage from the past quarter
  • All — See your complete usage history
tip

Use the 7-day filter to spot trends in your daily AI usage. If you notice a sudden spike, check whether a new page rule or Auto-Connect trigger is driving more conversations than expected.

Purchasing Additional Credits

If you run out of credits before your billing cycle ends, you can purchase additional credits directly from the AI Credits page.

  1. Go to Packages > AI Credits
  2. Click Purchase Credits (or the equivalent button)
  3. Select the number of additional credits you want
  4. Complete the purchase
  5. The new credits are added to your account immediately

Purchased credits are added on top of your plan credits and are shown separately in the Purchased stat so you can track them.

warning

If your credits run out and you have not purchased additional ones, your AI agents will stop responding to visitors. Make sure you monitor your usage and purchase more credits before you hit zero, or consider upgrading your plan if you consistently need more.

Managing Credit Consumption

Here are some strategies to make the most of your AI credits:

  • Optimize your Knowledge Base — A well-trained Knowledge Base helps your AI give accurate answers faster, which can reduce the number of back-and-forth messages per conversation.
  • Set call duration limits — Configure maximum call lengths in your Call Agent settings to prevent unexpectedly long calls from consuming too many credits.
  • Tune your Auto-Connect thresholds — If the Auto-Connect Agent is using a lot of credits, consider raising the lead score threshold so it only reaches out to the most qualified visitors.
  • Review and refine — Regularly check your activity log and per-model breakdown to identify areas where you can reduce unnecessary usage.
