Auto Engage

The Auto Engage tab on your Dashboard shows you how well your automatic engagement features are performing. These are the hooks and auto-triggers that reach out to visitors on your behalf -- without anyone on your team needing to lift a finger.

What Is Auto Engage?

Auto Engage refers to the automated actions that Knock Knock takes to start conversations with your visitors. Instead of waiting for a visitor to click your chat widget, the system can proactively reach out based on visitor behaviour. Examples include:

  • Hooks -- Targeted messages that appear when a visitor meets certain conditions, like spending a certain amount of time on a page or visiting a specific URL.
  • Auto-triggers -- Automatic prompts that encourage visitors to start a chat or accept a call based on what they are doing on your site.
note

To set up or adjust your hooks and auto-triggers, visit your widget configuration settings. The Auto Engage tab on the Dashboard only shows performance data for features you have already configured.

Key Metrics

The Auto Engage tab tracks how effective your automated outreach is:

MetricWhat It Tells You
Triggers firedHow many times an auto-engage action was shown to a visitor
Engagement rateWhat percentage of visitors who saw an auto-engage message actually responded
Chats startedHow many chat conversations began as a result of auto-engage
Calls acceptedHow many voice or video calls were accepted after an auto-trigger
Leads capturedHow many new leads came from auto-engaged visitors

Understanding Your Results

High trigger count but low engagement

If your auto-engage messages are firing frequently but visitors are not responding, consider:

  • Adjusting the timing of when the message appears (for example, waiting longer before showing it).
  • Changing the message content to be more relevant to what the visitor is looking at.
  • Reducing the frequency so visitors do not feel overwhelmed.

High engagement rate

If visitors are responding well to your auto-engage messages, that means your targeting and messaging are working. Look at which specific hooks or triggers are performing best and consider creating similar ones for other pages.

tip

The best auto-engage messages feel helpful, not pushy. Think about what a friendly store assistant would say when a customer has been browsing for a while -- something like "Can I help you find what you are looking for?" works much better than a generic sales pitch.

How Auto Engage Connects to Other Features

Auto Engage is a key driver for several other areas of Knock Knock:

  • Visitors who respond to auto-engage often show up as Hot Leads because accepting an auto-trigger is a strong engagement signal.
  • Chats started through auto-engage appear in your Chats list like any other conversation.
  • Calls initiated by auto-triggers are tracked in Calls.
  • The Lead Scoring system awards points when a visitor accepts an auto-connect call or chat.

If you have not set up any hooks or auto-triggers yet, this tab will be empty. Head to your widget setup to configure your first auto-engage action and start seeing data here.
