Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

What is Knock Knock App?

Knock Knock App is a visitor engagement platform that lets you connect with your website visitors through live chat, video calls, audio calls, AI-powered conversations, and session recording. It helps you turn website traffic into leads and conversations.

How do I install Knock Knock App on my website?

Add a small JavaScript snippet to your website. Go to Widget Setup > Installation for step-by-step instructions for your specific platform (WordPress, Shopify, Wix, custom HTML, and more).

Do my visitors need to install anything?

No. Everything works directly in the visitor's web browser. No downloads or plugins are required.

How long does setup take?

Most users are up and running in under 15 minutes. Follow the Quick Start Checklist for the fastest path to getting started.

Features

Can visitors call me directly from my website?

Yes. Depending on your configuration, visitors can initiate video calls, audio calls, or both directly from the widget on your website.

Does the AI chatbot work 24/7?

Yes. Your AI chat agent responds to visitors around the clock, even when your team is offline. You can configure it to hand off to a human agent when one becomes available.

What languages does the AI speak?

The AI starts in your configured company language (English, Swedish, or Arabic) and then automatically switches to whatever language the visitor writes or speaks — voice agents detect and switch mid-call across roughly 70 languages. No extra configuration needed.

Yes. Consent gating (off by default) shows a configurable consent banner and holds visitor identification and session recording until the visitor agrees — chat always works regardless. Your own consent tool can drive it too, via window.kkSetConsent.

Can I use AI for voice calls?

Yes. The AI Voice Agent can answer calls from visitors, have natural conversations, capture lead information, and book meetings — all without human intervention.

Can the AI answer a real phone number? Can I use my existing Twilio or Telnyx number?

Yes to both. You can buy a Twilio phone number directly in the app with no Twilio account of your own (paid from your Wallet), or import a number you already own from Twilio or Telnyx with your provider credentials. See Phone Numbers.

Can I see what visitors are doing on my website?

Yes. The Sessions feature shows you what pages visitors are viewing in real time. You can also watch recorded session replays to see exactly how visitors interacted with your site.

Can visitors book meetings?

Yes. You can connect your Google Calendar, Calendly, or LeadConnector calendar. Visitors can then book meetings directly through the widget.

Widget

Can I customize the widget's appearance?

Yes. You can change the widget style, colors, logo, position, and more. Go to Widget Setup > Styles & Appearance to customize.

Can I show different widgets on different pages?

Yes. Use Page Rules to control widget behavior on specific pages. You can show or hide the widget, change its behavior, or trigger specific actions based on the URL. You can also restrict the widget to an allow-list of pages with Show Widget Only on These Pages.

Can I build my own chat or voice interface instead of using the widget?

Yes. The Headless SDK runs the widget invisibly while your own interface drives AI chat and AI voice calls through a small JavaScript API.

Does the widget slow down my website?

No. The widget loads asynchronously and does not block your page from rendering. It has minimal impact on page load performance.

AI Features

How do I train the AI?

Add your business information to the Knowledge Base. You can import content from your website URLs, upload PDFs, add text manually, import your sitemap, or create FAQ entries.

What happens when the AI cannot answer a question?

The AI will let the visitor know it does not have the information and offer to connect them with a human agent. It does not make up answers.

What are AI credits?

AI credits are consumed whenever AI features are used (chat messages, voice calls, content processing). Your plan includes a monthly credit allocation, and you can purchase additional credits if needed.

Can the AI answer my customers on WhatsApp?

Yes, on plans that include it. The WhatsApp Agent connects a WhatsApp Business number so an AI agent answers incoming WhatsApp messages automatically. Those conversations show up in the same Chats inbox as your website chats, and your team can reply by hand at any time.

Can the assistant tell me what to focus on each day?

Yes. Nox produces a Daily Brief — a prioritized rundown of hot leads, notable sessions, meetings, and follow-ups. You can read it, have it played back hands-free with voice, or receive it by email. Choose which sections it includes in Assistant settings.

Can Nox send messages for me?

Nox can draft a follow-up to a lead or CRM contact and show it to you for approval. Nothing is sent until you approve it — Nox prepares the message and picks the channel from your CRM, and you decide whether it goes out.

Can the AI find new prospects for me, not just answer visitors?

On accounts in the beta, yes — Agent K watches your site traffic, discovers net-new prospects with a reason to buy right now, and revives dormant CRM contacts, delivering each lead into your LeadConnector where your own workflows send the outreach.

Why does the AI already know my returning visitor's name?

When a visitor's identity is verified, the AI can draw on their Identity Graph profile — past conversations, bookings, and CRM context — so it greets them and answers as if it remembers them. A visitor who only claims an identity (without enough proof it's really them) doesn't unlock cross-session history. See Identity Verification.

Can Nox tell me when a specific visitor comes back?

Yes. Ask Nox to watch a visitor and it will alert you when they return and go live on your site — and, if you ask, send them a proactive greeting itself. See Watching a Visitor; tune the defaults under Visitor alerts in Assistant settings.

Can a human take over a call the AI is handling?

Yes. While the AI voice agent is on a live call, you can listen in and then take over — the AI disconnects and you continue the conversation with the visitor. See Taking Over an AI Call.

Billing

Is there a free trial?

Yes. New accounts start with a free trial so you can explore the platform before committing to a paid plan.

Can I change my plan later?

Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time from Billing > Plans.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards through our secure payment processor.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can manage your subscription from the Billing section. If you need help, contact us at hello@knockknockapp.ai.

Why do calls to my AI phone number say it's temporarily unavailable?

Phone numbers purchased through the app are paid from your Wallet. When the wallet balance is empty, incoming calls to those numbers are declined until you top up. Numbers you brought from your own telephony provider are never affected.

Do my plan's AI credits cover phone numbers and calls?

No. Telephony (phone-number rental and call charges) is paid from your Wallet — the balance of AI credits you purchase on top of your plan. Plan-included credits are AI-only; buying a credit pack is what funds the Wallet.

Agency

What is the Agency Portal?

The Agency Portal is for agencies and resellers who manage multiple client accounts. It includes white-label branding, client management, custom packages, and staff permissions.

Can I white-label Knock Knock App?

Yes. Agency owners can customize the branding including logos, colors, and custom domains so the platform appears under your own brand.

Can my staff access the Agency Portal?

Yes. You can add staff members to your agency and control their access with granular permissions for company management, billing, settings, and more.

Privacy and Security

Is visitor data secure?

Yes. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We follow industry best practices for data security.

Do visitors know they are being recorded?

Session recording captures page interactions (clicks, scrolls, navigation) for analytics purposes. It does not record passwords, credit card numbers, or other sensitive form inputs. You should update your privacy policy to inform visitors about session recording, in compliance with your local regulations.

Can I delete visitor data?

Yes. Contact us at hello@knockknockapp.ai for data deletion requests.

Identity Graph

Why does the AI know my returning visitor's name?

When the Identity Graph is on (and the visitor's identity is verified), the AI's prompt is enriched with everything we've previously learned about that visitor on your site — name, email, phone, prior conversation summaries, CRM context, captured form responses, and AI-extracted facts. This is what makes the AI greet them by name and avoid asking the same questions twice. See Identity Graph Overview.

How does a visitor get verified?

A session can be verified by any one of these direct triggers: submitting a form on your site, arriving with a CRM cookie or contact-id parameter, returning on a known device, calling from a known phone number (when caller-ID verification is enabled), or being the first session that identifies them to your tenant. Beyond those, a score-based path looks for FingerprintJS hash, browser-signature, IP / subnet, and identifier-already-known matches and auto-verifies once enough corroborating evidence is collected. See Identity Verification.

Can someone impersonate a visitor by typing their email?

Not under the Moderate, Strict, or Regulated verification policies. A session that just claims an email gets the visitor's name and email surfaced (so the AI can address them politely) but is locked out of cross-session history. The attacker would need matching device / network signals or a direct trigger to be granted access — exactly the conditions a legitimate returning visitor naturally hits.
