AI Chat Leads

AI Chat Leads are visitors who shared their contact information during a chat conversation with your AI chatbot. These are some of your most valuable leads because they have already engaged in a meaningful conversation about your product or service.

How AI Chat Leads Are Created

When a visitor starts a chat on your website, your AI chatbot guides the conversation. As part of this natural interaction, the AI asks for the visitor's contact details at an appropriate moment. The visitor might share:

  • Name -- Their first and last name.
  • Email address -- So you can follow up after the chat.
  • Phone number -- For visitors who prefer a call back.

As soon as the visitor provides any of this information, a lead is created and appears in the AI Chat Leads tab.

note

The AI is designed to ask for contact information in a way that feels natural and helpful, not pushy. For example, it might say "I would love to send you more details -- what is the best email to reach you?" rather than demanding information upfront.

What You See in the Lead List

The AI Chat Leads tab shows a list of all leads captured from chat conversations. For each lead, you can see:

  • Visitor name -- The name they provided during the chat.
  • Email -- Their email address, if shared.
  • Phone -- Their phone number, if shared.
  • Date captured -- When the lead was created.
  • Chat summary -- A brief overview of what the conversation was about.

Contact Information

All the contact details the visitor shared during the conversation are displayed prominently so you can follow up quickly.

Chat Summary

A short summary of the conversation topics. This gives you context before you reach out so you know what the visitor was interested in and what questions they asked.

A direct link to the full chat transcript. Click it to open the conversation in the Chats section where you can read every message exchanged between the visitor and the AI.

tip

Always read the chat transcript before following up with a lead. Knowing what the visitor already discussed with the AI helps you pick up the conversation where it left off instead of asking them to repeat themselves.

Filtering Your Leads

Use the date filters at the top of the page to narrow the list:

  • Last 24 hours -- Focus on the freshest leads.
  • Last 7 days -- Review the past week's leads.
  • Custom date range -- Look at leads from any specific period.

Best Practices for AI Chat Leads

  1. Respond quickly -- These visitors were engaged enough to have a conversation and share their details. Follow up while the interaction is still fresh in their mind.

  2. Reference the conversation -- When you reach out, mention something specific from their chat. For example: "I saw you were asking about our enterprise plan -- I would love to walk you through the details."

  3. Check their lead score -- Cross-reference with Lead Scoring to understand how engaged the visitor was beyond just the chat.

  4. Watch their session -- View the visitor's session recording to see what pages they visited before and after the chat.

warning

If the AI captures a lead but the visitor's question was not fully answered, prioritize following up. An unanswered question paired with shared contact information is a strong signal that the visitor wants to hear from you.
