Notification Settings

Notification settings let you control how and when Knock Knock App alerts you about important events. You can configure personal preferences, choose which events trigger notifications, and quickly mute everything when you need focused time.

Personal Notification Preferences

To configure your personal notifications:

  1. Go to Settings in the sidebar and select Notifications.
  2. Choose your preferred notification channels for each event type.
  3. Click Save to apply.

You can enable or disable three types of notifications independently:

  • Email notifications -- Receive alerts in your email inbox for important events.
  • In-app notifications -- See pop-up banners inside the Knock Knock App platform.
  • Sound notifications -- Hear an audible alert when an event occurs.
tip

If you find email notifications too frequent, try turning them off for lower-priority events (like new chats) and keeping them on for high-priority ones (like hot leads and incoming calls).

Notification Types

You can choose which events trigger notifications. The available notification types are:

EventDescription
New ChatA visitor has started a new chat conversation on your website.
Incoming CallA visitor is calling you through the widget.
New LeadA new lead has been captured from a visitor interaction.
Hot LeadA lead has been flagged as high-priority based on their behavior or engagement.

For each event, you can independently toggle email, in-app, and sound notifications on or off.

note

Hot lead notifications are especially useful for sales teams. Enabling these ensures you never miss a high-value opportunity.

Daily Brief Email

You can have your assistant's Daily Brief delivered to your inbox. The email covers the same sections you've chosen in Assistant settings — hot leads, notable sessions, meetings, follow-ups, and so on — with links that take you straight back into the app.

Turn the Daily Brief email on or off from your assistant preferences. It's a good way to start the day briefed even before you open the app.

Missed Call & Voicemail Alerts

When your AI Voice Agent answers a call you weren't able to take, you can be notified by email so you can follow up. This works alongside the in-app and (where enabled) mobile push notifications for incoming calls. Configure call-specific alerts under Call Preferences.

Visitor Return Alerts

When a visitor you've asked your assistant to watch returns to your site, the app doesn't just show a toast notification — it also announces the return out loud ("Sarah has returned on your website"), so you catch it even when you're not looking at the screen. The spoken announcement respects your sound notification setting, so muting sounds silences it too.

If a watched visitor returns while the app is closed, you'll see catch-up alerts when you next open it. Catch-up alerts cover the last 24 hours — older returns stay in your notification bell but no longer pop up.

Muting Notifications

If you need uninterrupted focus time, you can mute all notifications with a single click.

  1. Look for the Mute button (bell icon) in the sidebar.
  2. Click it to mute all notifications instantly.
  3. Click it again to unmute and resume receiving notifications.
info

When notifications are muted, you will not receive any in-app pop-ups or sound alerts. Email notifications may still be delivered to your inbox depending on your settings. All events are still logged and visible when you return.

Organization-Level Notification Defaults

Admins can set default notification preferences for the entire team in Organization Settings. These defaults apply to all team members who have not customized their own preferences.

If you have set personal notification preferences, your choices take priority over the organization defaults.

To check or update the organization defaults:

  1. Go to Settings and select Organization.
  2. Find the Notification Preferences section.
  3. Configure the defaults as needed.
  4. Click Save to apply.
warning

Changing organization-level notification defaults only affects team members who are still using the default settings. Members who have already customized their own preferences will not be affected.
